Welcoming your baby into the world is tender and emotional, and often a little overwhelming. The days blur together between feedings, short naps, and trying to remember when you last slept. You wait so long to meet them, and then suddenly the tiny details begin changing almost immediately.
As a Twin Cities newborn photographer serving families throughout Minneapolis, Edina and surrounding suburbs, my role is not just to photograph your baby. It is to guide you through the entire experience so you don’t have to plan, stress, or wonder what to do next. You simply arrive and everything is ready for you. I photograph both in-home and studio sessions and both have their own benefits, but here I will speak more specifically about the peacefulness and ease of a bright studio session.
Most parents worry they won’t feel prepared enough for photos soon after your baby has arrived. You might be concerned your baby will cry, your toddler won’t cooperate, or you won’t feel like yourself yet. You do not need to have it all together before your session. Your baby does not need to sleep perfectly. Toddlers do not need to behave perfectly.
I guide your session slowly and intentionally. We pause for feeding, cuddling, diaper changes, and breaks whenever needed. Nothing is rushed and nothing is forced. The calm environment that I provide allows for genuine moments to happen naturally, which is why parents almost always leave saying the experience felt easier than they expected.

Every session is thoughtfully guided so your gallery feels complete, natural, and relaxed rather than stiff or overly posed. I gently direct each part of the session — beginning with family portraits, then sibling and parent connection, and finally individual baby images and delicate details — so you never have to wonder what to do. Simple prompts and small adjustments help you look comfortable and flattering while keeping expressions genuine.
Babies are softly wrapped to keep them content while allowing me to create a variety of timeless portraits with subtle changes throughout the session. By carefully shaping the flow and refining each moment, you receive more than a handful of pretty photos — you receive a cohesive gallery that tells the story of this season in a calm, beautiful, and natural way.

I actually love both in-home and studio newborn photoshoots. There’s something really special about both options! However, the first weeks postpartum are not the time most parents want to prepare their home for visitors. A studio removes that pressure completely. Everything is clean, warm, and prepared before you arrive, with soft natural light designed specifically for newborn photography.

The LAST thing you want to think or worry about at this time in your life is what to wear!! Before your session you receive outfit guidance so your family coordinates naturally without looking overly styled. Many mothers choose from comfortable, flattering dress options, and babies are wrapped in soft neutral swaddle for the most clean, classic look! I also have a whole stock of sweet bows, blankets, a ruffled bonnet and a swaddle sash for baby girls, and a cute little hand knit bonnet for your boy!

I keep the overall look soft, light, and timeless so your photographs feel just as beautiful decades from now. Also, if you plan on turning your photos into artwork for your home, it’s helpful to keep it timeless and neutral.

Within 2-3 you receive your images via a beautiful online gallery. You now have access to a curated selection of products in your gallery store. This step is optional but highly recommended! Each Collection comes with a generous print credit to use toward heirloom albums and/or artwork for your home. I will design these for you – a bonus to help you get your photos off your computer and phone and into your life. 🙂

Most families reserve during the second trimester to ensure availability. Only a limited number of newborn sessions are scheduled each month so there is flexibility once babies arrive early or late.
Newborn photographs are not really about a perfect baby pose. They are about remembering who you were in the moment. The way your baby snuggled into you, the way your hands held them instinctively, and the quiet connection that existed before routines formed.
